How can I find my way?

You are supported

From the very day you begin the discovery of yourself in a new way, you will find you are being supported. You will receive much support; there is no need to ask for it, you will receive it. You should, though, hope for it, for life can often be bleak and difficult.

There is no need to ask for support, you will receive it. You should, though, hope for it, for life can often be bleak and difficult.

Life is often different from what you imagine, what with its twists and turns, those unexpected happenings. But you should never lose hope, never say, “I can’t find my way.” No, it’s not easy to find one’s way because everyone has another way to go.

Many mistakes are made when someone tries to mirror himself on someone else. This you must never do. Never try to refer to someone else; look to yourself and how you can get through life. However, here again is this difficulty of letting the other go, but then totally. You should be able to enjoy those who are close to you but not look at them in order to do as they do. You must let them go to be completely themselves.

Never try to mirror yourself on someone else. Let the others go totally and just enjoy them.

Even if things go wrong

If there is something another wants of you, you may give it to him if you so choose, but you must want to do it. You must always see to it you are living your own life, taking your own life in hand and daring to go forward.

Always see to it you are living your own life, taking your own life in hand and daring to go forward.

Even if you don’t really know where it is you want to go, still you should take steps. Even if it turns out all wrong, you should be able to learn from it and not let it bother you and so not say, “I did it all wrong, I’m a failure, I’m bad.” No, don’t let it bother you.

It would be more correct if you would say, “These were my actions, my judgement was flawed, I didn’t see what I should have done, I made such and such a mistake,” but don’t say, “I am like this or like that.” No, you are a divine being.

Even if you don’t really know where it is you want to go, still you should take steps.

If it turns out all wrong, don't not let it bother you but learn from it.

If you say anything to yourself it should be that there is something Divine within you and you should try to express this Divinity.

In saying something about yourself in truth, that has value, you are closer to yourself than when you stress your faults, for then you are doing something not right, you are condemning yourself, ascribing ridiculous blames to yourself and saying, “Look, this is me, this is the way I am.” No, this isn’t right, for in this way you are belittling yourself.

Don't belittle yourself. In the essence of your being is a divine radiance.

In the essence of your being is a divine radiance and you can learn to discover this radiance by admitting it, by allowing it into yourself and knowing, “I can and may and even should dare to do this.”

I’m being very delicate here, I would rather say it in this way, “Keep yourself busy with this and all the rest doesn’t count. You should be busy with the Divine and all the rest is less important.” If you then say, “I can’t,” you would be wrong, because you’d be putting yourself down, you see?

Do things in your own way

Look to see what is within you; realise what you find there to be powers coming from the Divine and learn to handle them in your own way.

If you compare yourself to others you will see you are doing things differently from the way they do them, and you should allow yourself to do things differently. This can be very difficult.

Many difficulties arise in a person’s life because they want what they do to fit into someone else’s life, and then they end up in a fog. This means you no longer understand what you are doing, either because you learned to do it in this way, or you are expected to do it in this way, or others say you must do it in this way, or because of any other number of expectations people may have had of you and expressed – starting with your parents, brothers, sisters, husband, wife – and which you were not able to fulfill. For when they notice something in your life it mostly comes from their own self, because of the thousands of reasons there could be to expect something of another.

Allow yourself to do things differently.

Many difficulties arise in a person’s life because they want what they do to fit into someone else’s life

The reality is each person must learn to become himself or herself and learn to express himself or herself.

Reinforcing others

If you can reinforce this being of oneself in others, you are doing the right thing. If you live with love, you will be reinforcing others in their own lives, their own feelings, thoughts, the work they are doing and so forth. You will be bringing a power to these things and showing strength, you will be helping to enlighten the values in the other’s life and saying, “Look, this is important in your life, this is beautiful, this is brilliant, I enjoy it, it’s wonderful.” The fact you see and place this emphasis on what he is doing makes it become more apparent to him, and in this way he can also see himself better.

In this way you are building up your own life, make no mistake about it, because when you help another you are forming your own life. Not the other’s life but your own life. It is only by your involvement with others that you can bring your own life to expression; when you help build another’s life, you are building on your own life; if you destroy someone’s life, you are destroying your own life. Life is like that, it is one. Real life is one. Real happiness is one. If you help in making happiness for another, you are making your own happiness.

In this way you can know what life is. Life doesn’t distinguish between one and another. To life everyone is equal. The more you help another build his life, while at the same time letting him be free, but reinforcing those things in him that come from the Divine, the more you build in this way, the more you strengthen and develop yourself. There is no other way.

When you help build another’s life, you are building on your own life; if you destroy someone’s life, you are destroying your own life. Life is like that, it is one. To life everyone is equal.

A connection with others

The tragedy is that a person will search for an own way, separate from the others, because, though he knows he should become himself, he still doesn’t realise this involves a connection with others. This is something he then still has to learn. The development of an own life – which is so important and which one should constantly be busy bringing to expression – must be seen in connection with others. Otherwise you can’t know it.

Whoever becomes himself or herself automatically involves the lives of others therein. To the extent he is able to penetrate to himself, to the core of his being, he will discover he can find a treasure of experience there and that this treasure of experience comes by way of the other.

The treasure of experience comes by way of the other. Joy comes from a connection with others.

Pay attention to the joy in your life and you will see it comes from here or there, it comes from someone who has brought you something, has done something, it comes from God who has seen you, it comes from that child born out of you. It comes, in other words, from a connection with others. And each birth in the human being, I really mean: each birth, each discovery anywhere on Earth, can bring you joy. Each discovery made because people were working within themselves, but with the Divine, with these powers, brings joy to the whole world.

This is the way you should dare to live: with universality, with the whole world at your door, daring to look at everything and to live with everything.

This is a glorious challenge I am offering you. You, yourself, know you dare to take it up, and I hope you will go from one battle to the other, from one barrier to the other, until you’ve broken them all down and made room for yourself, for your own freedom. I hope you live with every discovery, learn to find everything and learn to live in everything, become one with all things, with all persons – whoever they may be – because you’ve learned to place a little bit of them, a little part of them, in your heart.

Try to find something beautiful in everyone.

Try to find something beautiful in everyone, but let it be the most beautiful thing. Begin by choosing amongst people, here and there someone, or just a single thing from only one person. Begin small and you’ll see how it will grow.

Patience, silence, joy

I want to emphasize this strongly: dare to go very slowly. People who want to get ahead should dare to go slowly and should especially include silence in their lives. The one who can’t go slowly and in silence can’t know what joy is. The blissfulness in the hearts of people speaks of deepness and slowness. Yet the greatest speed is to be found in God, although His speed is the slowest. He has the greatest patience yet doesn’t waste a second.

God has the greatest patience yet doesn’t waste a second.

Without patience you can’t achieve anything; you can achieve absolutely nothing. You must still the silence within you and carry it with you in all circumstances.

Take it with you wherever you go, just like you might take a little lap dog, quietly by your side, in your presence. Something needing to be fed once in a while and to which every now and then you should throw something; but you must keep watch over it, making sure it stays with you, making sure the silence is always there. If something, somewhere, should be faithful, then it must be this silence that accompanies you, giving you patience, an infinite patience with yourself and with your fellow men and women, with everything in the process of growth. Because everything growing is being built by God’s speed of light – but slowly enough that it can become a reality.

The Masters are engaged with reality. We are engaged with the reality of this Earth that is not an illusion.

Someone deserving of love

There is much illusion on this Earth because people think about it too much and don’t live enough with it. If you live with reality then you are living with all of reality. If you live with the reality of the Earth, you are living with the cosmos. If you live with the reality of the self, you are living with the reality of God. You should be able, in this way, to realise the unity of all things and to admit all realities into your own existence.

What you mustn’t do is to put obstacles in the path of others who want to advance. This you must never do, in whichever sector of your existence. You should help others in all ways. Don’t see others as competitors but as friends. Don’t see the other as your enemy but as someone deserving of love, and who is love. Because life is like that, and in this way you will become who you should be. You will become Divine.

When you can experience the joy and the freedom within yourself and wish these upon others, each thought aimed against you will be averted and will return to the one who sent it.

You will be giving form to the Divine in yourself. You will become radiant. Then something in you will have opened to admit reality, the true reality; and this reality will carry you. Whatever happens, every misfortune, every thought, every adversity is then borne by love, patience, peace, and it will bring you everywhere you should be. When you can experience the joy and the freedom within yourself and wish these upon others, each thought aimed against you will be averted and will return to the one who sent it.

Ask much from God for yourself and ask as much for others, but let there always be a unity. Then you will be where you should be and everything will come open, for in this way you will find the way.

You will find the path of light, you will find joy, you will find everything for which you are searching and you’ll see, you will be rewarded in all possible kinds of ways. Don’t think this is an exaggeration. You’ll see. But it calls for patience. So don’t run ahead of yourself and don’t run ahead of others. (...)"
