Meditation 5

Going through life fresh and unsullied - meditation of one to five minutes

Meditatie

Don't react too quickly

“When tensions pile up in a family or in some other situation amongst people, don’t react too quickly but just let it be and let it subside, so that you can see which tensions are there and why they are there.

If you can look behind the happening, behind the words, you will know: ‘look, I should, indeed, have reacted’ or: ‘I should better not have reacted.’

If you can keep yourself under control and stay calm while the other is speaking or is angry, you would be taking a step forwards and will be a step ahead of the other. If you can look at things objectively from out of the silence, you will always be stronger than the other because you are then able to speak the truth and be in the truth.

It’s important to be objective in everything and try to live as closely to your heart as you can. Often the tensions are so great that this isn’t possible for you; that it makes you nervous or pushes you into a reactive pattern, which then causes you to lose control over yourself. That’s why it’s important to go into the silence and retain this stillness in your everyday life.

If you can keep yourself under control and stay calm while the other is speaking, you will always be stronger.

Meditate and allow your tensions to disappear

It’s a great thing to, for instance, meditate and set everything in your life aside, setting your own thoughts aside, your own feelings and allowing the tensions to disappear from your body so that you can go through life fresh and unsullied; even if only for a minute, even if only for five minutes.

If you can do this you will gradually be reborn. This earth can sometimes be a place of immense tensions and unbearable situations and yet, despite this, you should be able to retreat to your own joy, in your own gladness, in your own detachment of this so-called reality.

Set your own thoughts aside, your own feelings and allow the tensions to disappear from your body so that you can go through life fresh and unsullied; even if only for a minute, even if only for five minutes.

To be able to stand in the waves

Dare to be in your own life. Have the courage to take the steps towards your own self that will make it possible for you to dare to withstand all tensions and be able to objectively observe what is happening.

So, not escaping what is happening, not running away, not observing by thinking but simply accepting, saying: ‘I am allowing what is being said, what is being done, I’m allowing this to take place and later I will go back to it and try to process it all.’

Don't escape what is happening, don't run away, but simply observe objectively and don't let everything enter into you.

But you don’t need to take on the tensions that are also present at that moment. Don’t say: ‘this is my tension.’ Observe them coming from the other person and know they are not from you and, therefore, that you don’t have to take them upon you. Though you are able to see them, you don’t let them enter into you.

You should be able, as it were, to stand in the waves, in the vibration, and know that they’re not coming from you and that they have no meaning for you at that moment. If you can see this, if you can put things into perspective like this, the other will not understand your reaction.”
